When Should You Replace Your Boiler?

At some point, you may need to have a new boiler installed in your home. There are a variety of reasons why this may need to happen. Just like any other appliance, a boiler can eventually wear out over time and will need to be replaced. However, there are some other issues that can require a new boiler installation, including the following:

Your Manufacturer's Warranty Is Over

Most boilers have a manufacturer's warranty for a certain period of time. Your warranty period will vary based on the brand of boiler you choose, who installed the boiler, and so on. Once your warranty expires, you may want to consider installing a new one, especially if you continually have constant problems.

Your Boiler Is Not Energy Efficient

If you have an older model boiler, it may not be as efficient as newer models now available. Older model boilers use more energy and can increase your home's electric bill. They also do not work as well to properly temper your home.

You Constantly Have to Make Repairs

If you have an older boiler, or your boiler is constantly in need of repairs, it may be a better investment to install a new one rather than keep spending money on repairs. For some repairs, you could spend hundreds of dollars on one repair if it is severe enough. The longer the technician has to spend on labor, the higher your repair costs will be. When you have issues over and over, you might want to think about a replacement.

You Cannot Find Parts

At some point, you may find it difficult to find parts for your existing boiler, especially when the boiler is older. Even if you can find some of the parts that you need, they could be in poor condition. Older parts for older model boilers may have been sitting around in a storage room for years, which means they are not likely in good shape. The expense of having rare parts installed may also be more expensive than normal. At some point, you will not be able to purchase what you need to make a repair. For that reason, you should think about a new boiler installation.

A new boiler is an investment but is necessary if you want a fully functioning HVAC system. Be sure to contact your HVAC contractor for more information about your boiler options so your home can remain comfortable.
